Michael W. Hartley, Attorney at Law
MICHAEL W. HARTLEY has been practicing law for over 30 years, helping Texans accomplish their objectives both in and out of the courtroom. Along with his associate KEVIN A. KOSORIS, Mr. Hartley represents clients in civil trials, commercial litigation, and criminal defense.
Mr. Hartley’s practice also includes incorporation and administration of closely held business corporations, homeowners’ associations, wills and trusts, real estate transactions, commercial contracts and leases.
Mr. Hartley earned a B.S. degree from Texas Tech University, Lubbock, Texas in 1975 and his Juris Doctor from Texas Tech School of Law in 1979. Mr. Hartley was admitted to the State Bar of Texas and began practice in El Paso, Texas in 1979. He opened his office in Waxahachie, Texas, in 1990 and has been serving all of Ellis County, Texas since then.
He has been a member of the Ellis County Bar Association and Ellis County Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, serving as Chairman of the Continuing Legal Education Committee. In 2004 he was recognized by the Ellis County Bar Association for professional excellence.
Mr. Hartley has written articles and given presentations to the Ellis County Criminal Defense Lawyers Association and the Dallas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association on various matters, including Evaluating PCR DNA Evidence, Avoiding Identity Theft and use of the Texas Open Records Act.
Kevin A. Kosoris, Attorney at Law
Kevin Kosoris grew up in Waxahachie and graduated from Waxahachie High School in 2003. Kevin attended the College of William and Mary, located in historic Williamsburg, Virginia, graduated in 2007, and returned home to attend the SMU Dedman School of Law in Dallas. While in law school Kevin worked for the Innocence Project of Texas, the Dallas County Public Defender’s Office, and the Honorable Harlin Hale, Judge of the United States Bankruptcy Court sitting in Dallas.
Kevin began his law practice as an associate to Michael W. Hartley in January of 2011. Together with Mr. Hartley, Kevin’s practice includes civil litigation, family law, probate matters, and criminal defense, as well as representation of Ellis County area businesses and organizations.
Kevin is a third generation Ellis County citizen and takes pride in serving the community. His community service involvement ranges from providing pro bono legal services to providing live music for community fundraising events. Kevin also serves his church leading worship on Sunday mornings.
